Amounts to 800 the number of dead as earthquake hits Chile

Two days after the earthquake of 8.8 on the Richter scale that hit Chile, the magnitude of the destruction is only beginning to learn.

At least 800 people died, 300 of them in the fishing village of Constitution, which was ravaged by a tsunami triggered by the quake.

To get an idea of the strength of the Chilean earthquake was enough to say that at least 500 times stronger than that struck Haiti for nearly six weeks.

The national government in Chile announced emergency half, including a curfew in several towns in the Bio Bio region, including the capital, Concepción, and Maule, following the looting of shops that occurred on Sunday.

The Interior Ministry urged to "act responsibly" and to avoid actions of disorder during the curfew, which applies from 2100 to 0600 local time.
