In the central square from Curico there are traces of past, present and future. A past that is only a few days ago when all of Chile felt the worst earthquake in 50 years. A present of tents and alert citizens, many of them waiting patiently in line for someone to tell them what their new morning.
About 90% of the adobe buildings of this town quiet and low ceilings in the center of the country has gone forever: some have collapsed to 8.8 degrees on the Richter scale registered the quake on Saturday, and on the left standing-fronts shelled, misshapen mud brick in the light-weight imminent demolition orders.
"They are preparing to overthrow the decrees what is left, we are the land and carry about 1,000 homes, but we have the survey of rural areas. For now we know that we've lost the old", says the secretary of the mayor, Manuel Castillo.
